With more participants registered than any of the other events, the 5k Runwalk and kids dash promise to be a main attraction during our coming Summer Games events.

KIDS DASH CATEGORIES:
Ages 1-3 - 100m (Male and Female) Start at 8:00 am
Ages 4-6 - 200m (Male and Female)
Ages 7-8 - 400m (Male and Female)
Ages 9-14 - 1 mile (Male and Female)
ATHLETE CHECK-IN:
Runners will register, pick up packet and goodie bag on
Friday August 23rd 9-12am 2-5pm at the Island Club and Saturday August 24th
8-10 am at the Basketball courts. Last minute registration will be available on
race day Sunday August 25th until 60 minutes prior the start of the
race at 8 am.
Race day registration fee will apply. Goodie Bags for
same day registration will be available on a first come first serve basis. Swim
cap will be provided.
WRISTBAND:
A wristband will be provided with the registration packet
at Athlete Check-in. This band will identify you as an official participant and
must be worn during the entire event. The wristband allows you access to the
post-race food & beverages. Please do not remove your wristband until after
the last day of the games and events and for the closing ceremony and post
party!
RACE NUMBERS:
Race number bib
will be provided with the DORAL ISLES SUMMER GAMES
5K RUN/WALK & KIDS DASH
Registration packet at Athlete Check-in. Athletes must
wear the race number (bib) at all times on the course. Race number (bib) must
be placed on FRONT of runner and securely attached with safety pins provided.
Race belts may be worn. This is important for identification and timing scoring
purposes. Do not forget the bib number, no bib no finisher timing. Shoes and
shirts are required.
FINISH LINE:
Finisher will cross the finish line and a volunteer will score
your bib number and time. We ask athletes to clear finisher area to avoid
interfering with the other runners behind and proceed to finisher area to
collect their finisher’s medal. Please stay clear off this area once finished
and direct to the food and beverage station. A volunteer will instruct and
assist if necessary.
AID & HYDRATION STATION:
Aid/Hydration station will be available for athletes only
in a designated area on the run course, approximately midway on the 5K course.
Volunteers will be there to help you with hydration needs. Only Athletes
wearing participant bracelet are allowed to receive hydration on the aid
stations. Spectators may buy beverages from vendors
DROPPING OUT:
If for any reason, you decide to pull the plug during the
race or a medical staff decides for the safety of the participant to remove an
athlete from competition, DNF will be assessed. (Did not finish). Please notify
a volunteer if you decide to drop out before the race begins.
SAFETY RULES:
Our main priority is to deliver a fun and safe race for
each one of the athletes so please follow these rules: This is an INDIVIDUAL event.
No other forms of locomotion other than walking/running. Ample aid stations
will be provided. Friends, family members, coaches or supporters of any type
may not bike or skate alongside athletes and should be warned to stay completely
clear of all athletes and off the running course to avoid accidents with
runners.
Absolutely NO DOGS, NO BIKES, NO SCOOTERS, NO
SKATEBOARDS, NO STROLLERS on course. This might become a hazard to other around
you. Headsets or headphones are permitted but we kindly ask to use them with precaution
and low volume so you can be aware of surrounding and fellow participants. Athletes
and Spectators must follow the directions and instructions of all race
officials, security personnel and volunteers. Remember, they are all there for
you to have a safety and enjoyable race.
UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT:
Unsportsmanlike conduct or the verbal abuse of any race
official or volunteer during the race or at any time during the event will
result in an immediate disqualification and will be asked to leave the
premises.
TIMING & RESULTS:
Runners will be timed as by bib number and categories. It
is extremely important t have your bib number affixed to the front of runner
for a accurate timing. No Bib number, no finisher timing. Official race results
will be posted prior to the awards presentation.
MEDICAL CARE:
Doral Isles Community Association will provide comprehensive
medical aid for all participants during the event. The biggest risk to athletes
during the race is the potential of heat-related injuries associated with
inadequate hydration prior to and during the event. Be sure to drink plenty of
fluids throughout event weekend. Medical personnel shall have ULTIMATE and
FINAL authority to remove an athlete from the race if the athlete is judged to
be physically incapable of continuing the race without risk of serious injury
or death. Medical transport of any athlete will result in a DNF.
RESULTS & AWARDS:
The awards party begins as soon as you made to the finish
line! Be sure to stick around for live music, food and beverages. The awards
presentation will begin at 11:30am for all age groups. The top 3 finishers in
each division will be presented an award. All Participants will receive a
finisher medal.
