Doral Isles Summer Games are now Officially Closed

Dear residents:
These have been three days of intense activity, competitions, exhibitions, but overall we have seen along this event the unifying power of sports.

It was a great event that surpassed all our expectations thanks to your participation and enthusiasm. We want to express our sincere thanks to our Community for their participation, to our Volunteers for the long hours of work planning and execution to make this event a reality and finally to all our Participants, that demonstrated a truly athletic spirit competing with strong will and perseverance but always in fair play.

Congratulations to all winners.

DOMINO TOURNAMENT ATHLETE GUIDE AND RULES

GAME RULES

There are many variations of domino games; this tournament will be based on the Doral Isles Summer Games 2013 style of domino play. Nonetheless, for the sake of clarity, the rules below trump any understanding players may have of partner dominoes. Anything not covered by the rules will be left to the sole discretion of the judges.

PLAYERS:
Each game will have four players, two against two as partners facing each other. Changing partners is not permitted once the tournament has begun. CHANGING POSITIONS, once seated, players are not permitted to change positions during a match.

GAME:
A team wins a game when one of its players is the first to play their last domino, or if the game is blocked, the player partners who have the lowest combined total of dots on the dominoes remaining in their hand win the game. The Game is won with 100 points.
SET, consists of a minimum of 3 games. The first team to win 3 games wins the SET.
MATCH, the team that wins 2 out of 3 sets wins the match. The team that wins the Match advances to the next round.

SHUFFLING, all dominoes are shuffled face down and each player draws 7 d dominoes. No redraw or reshuffle is permitted due to voids in suits or too many doubles. The team behind in the game is required to do the shuffling and cannot draw dominoes until the opposing team has drawn their dominoes. If the opposing team is not satisfied with the shuffle, prior to drawing their hand, they can ask for a reshuffle.

IF A DOMINO IS EXPOSED DURING THE SHUFFLE, the dominoes shall be reshuffled
IF A DOMINO IS EXPOSED DURING THE DRAW, the dominoes will not be reshuffled (it is the responsibility of each player to protect their dominoes at all times)
DOUBLE SIX, in the first game the player with the double six plays first, in subsequent games either of the players of the winning team of the previous game starts the game with any domino he wants, double or otherwise. RIGHT plays a domino or passes and the game continues counter clockwise.
KNOCKING, if you cannot play knock on the table to signal that you pass, alternately say pass.
ASKING FOR COUNT, if and only if it is your turn to play you may ask for a count of the total number of dominoes in each players hand.

DOMINO TOURNAMENT ATHLETE GUIDE AND RULES Page 1BAD PASS, players are not allowed to pass if they have a domino that can legally be played. If a bad pass is caught before the next player acts (plays or passes), the player making the bad pass may play. If a bad pass is discovered after the next player acts the team making the bad pass forfeits the game and will mean a 25 point penalty.
BLOCKING THE GAME, if the game is blocked the player with the fewest dots of their combined remaining dominoes wins the games. Partners do not combine their dominoes. In the case of a tied game, the game is replayed with the player drawing the double six playing first.
MISPLAYED DOMINO, if caught before the next person plays or passes, will be played elsewhere on the table, if it will play. If it will not play, it will be turned face-up on the table and played at the first opportunity by the person making the error. Prior to the next play, the player with the turned-up domino must play or pass.

IF PLAYED OUT OF TURN, the domino will be left face-up on the table and played at the first opportunity.

THE TIME LIMIT ON MATCHES will be exactly 45 minutes. Record the starting time at the top of the score sheet. Call for a judge after the first game if a game is progressing too slowly. The judge may reduce the number of the remaining games for the match as required until that bracket is no longer behind in play. (Those intentionally delaying the game will be warned. If slow play continues, the player playing too slowly may be disqualified from the tournament.)

GENERAL RULES

BE ON TIME. Do not leave the building; doing so can delay the tournament and you may be disqualified.

NO SLAPPING DOMINOES DOWN IN SUCH A WAY AS TO DAMAGE THE DOMINOES OR DISRUPT THE TABLE. Those breaking dominoes will be required to pay for a new set. If the dominoes are disrupted and the players cannot agree on the layout of the dominoes after the disruption the team who disrupted the game will forfeit that game.
NO CHEATING is permitted by word, deed, or action, including trying to transfer information to a partner. Any suspected cheating should immediately be called to the attention of the floor judge. Do not wait until after the game or hand. Forfeiture of one game or expulsion from the tournament can be the result of cheating. If cheating is suspected, the Judge will institute the NO CODING rule (see below)
NO CODING, when this rule is in force to prevent transferring information during the game, PLAYERS ARE

NOT PERMITTED TO TALK TO EACH OTHER after dominoes have been drawn. The only exceptions are a) if it is their turn to play first. In which case they are only permitted to say “I will pose”, “Or you should pose”, or b) If it is their turn to play they may ask for a count. In addition SPECTATORS CANNOT TALK TO PLAYERS during a game.
